Dikop Babies 31-10-2004
On Wednesday last week Daniel looked into a neighbour's yard through a gap in the wall and exclaimed dikop! When I had a look I could see a dikop standing in what looked like a nest. Basically a little depression in the ground (see 1st pic).
This morning I decided to check and see if there had been any developments and was suprised to see two little ones crouched in the sand. Unfortunatly the pics are not of the best quality as I had to resort to digital zoom and also try and remain low key, so as not to disturb them.
SPOTTED DIKOP (Burhinus Capensis) Plover-like birds with large head and eyes, long legs, feet without a hind claw and tawny colouring. Normally walk with short, mincing steps
