A Visit to Addo Elephant Park

The National Parks have a Free Entry Week as part of South African Heritage month.
So we, the 4 of us, Sandy and Chopface (Jaryd) decided to head off to Addo on the public holiday as that was the only day we could get everyone together.
Arriving at 08:30 we were faced with a long queue of cars, so entry too 61 minutes!
Jack’s Picnic Spot was full so we kept going to the Main Camp where we managed to secure a nice table out of the cold wind and in full sunshine, bliss! We braaied some boerie on my trusty Weber that’s over 30 years old and still going strong.
I love that thing.
After a delightful brunch of boerie rolls, potato salad and beans, washed down by some beer, we headed back towards Matholweni Gate. We popped in at Jack’s and it was still packed, I have never seen so many people and cars in Addo before.
We got to see some warthogs, zebras, ostriches, a jackal, red hartebeest, zebras, kudus and some elephants. All in all a very enjoyable day out in one of our national treasures.
We found that we had tracked a piece of vegetation into the car so we showed Sushi when we got home, he loved it 🙂
